I just couldn’t wait for Thursday because I needed a reality escape and I got the right opportunity.

“So your boss just called you into your office and gave you the job and you think there is nothing connected between you two?” Keasha asked as we were seated in my room, she was helping me pack some of the clothes that I was going to use during the trip.

“Nothing is going on between us, he has a girlfriend for heaven’s sake, I don’t know why Katie and you think that my boss has something for me, I was just the perfect fit for the job and that is why I got the chance, do you have any problem with that?”

“No, I was just concerned because I saw the way he was looking at you the other day I was at your workplace, a look that showed so much.”

“You are just overthinking or maybe just being paranoid, I don’t know what you are talking about, and I thought you will be happy for me, you are my friend Keasha.”

“I know and I am not denying the fact that I am your friend, I am just trying to open your eyes and make you realize that some rich dude who is your boss has a soft spot for you, and you should be happy and grateful.”

“What for? I am just going to work and that is all, this is a work trip and that is all I can say for now, so are you going to help me pack or are you going to talk about things that don’t even exist?”

“Okay I am helping you pack jeez, so how is it going with Reece, did you two have s*x?” She asked bluntly and I slapped her back playfully.

“Even if we had s*x, what does that have to do with you? It is my body and I can do whatever I please with it.” I said defending myself and she smiled then turned to look at me.

“I just want to know because the last time I checked you were still a virgin at twenty-four which is not normal among us ladies so I think I should know when you finally break it and of all the people Reece is the only person you could give it up to? Anyway, he was your crush, so did you two do it?”

“No, we didn’t, why should I discuss my love life with you Keasha? Did I ask you if you had s*x with that dude you were flirting with the other day? What was his name again?”

“I didn’t sleep with Lee, we just had drinks and that is all anyway I know you will tell me whenever you are ready so how long are you going to stay there?”

“Till Sunday because the meeting is on Friday and I should be at work on Monday so just a few days then I will be back, I know you are going to miss it but don’t worry we can face time while I am in Los Angeles,” I suggested.

“Yeah get over yourself, I have other things to miss and not just you, come on girl, I think we are done here, I am famished right now, do you have any food in the kitchen we could make some dinner for ourselves.”

“You are always hungry, makes me think that you are probably eating for two, anyway I have some rice and some chicken in the fridge, we can make dinner as we chat and maybe catch up,” I said as we both headed downstairs to make dinner.

We stayed almost the whole night chatting and she ended up sleeping over at my place, the following day she woke up earlier than me, freshened up and left for work I was to leave at around nine so I also got ready and was called by the guy who was supposed to take me to the airport, he was waiting for me in front of my apartment, I got out and he helped me with my suitcase.

When we arrived at the airport, Josh Holder, the guy I was supposed to go travel with was already at the airport waiting for me.

“Hey Kristen what took you so long, I thought you were going to miss the flight, I was waiting for you.”

“How was I going to miss this great opportunity, I am here now and I think we should leave, I don’t want to keep you guys waiting,” I said as the driver helped me with my suitcase, we were taking a private plane to Los Angeles.

“You overslept?” Josh asked as we settled in the plane, I wasn’t familiar with or close to Josh but he was trying to strike up a conversation with me which was not bad, I guess I needed a distraction throughout the flight. There were other employees from other branches too but Josh and I sat next to each other, maybe it was a great opportunity for me to get to know about other employees from my bank.

“I just see you around the office but never got the chance to speak to you, I guess I am just lucky to travel with you and be with you during this annual general meeting, a great opportunity for me to get to know you better.” He said with a smile pestered on his face.

“Josh, why do you think I will want to get to know you? You are just lucky like me, I mean that doesn’t mean that we shod get to know each other right?”

“Maybe yes maybe not but I will like to get to know you that is if you don’t mind.”

“What if I mind?”

“Then we can just sit around for the remaining hours until we arrive in Los Angeles, it is going to be the most boring flight ever.” He said and in as much as I wanted to ignore him, I knew he was right, it wouldn’t kill getting to know him, he wasn’t that bad looking, he was cute and had all it takes to get a woman’s attention and all girls flocking at his feet.

“Maybe it won’t kill to get to know you, so how about we start with you?”

“No problem, I am Josh Holder, I work as the branch coordinator and I have been working there for more than five years now.”

“Okay I am Kristen Zoey of course, I have been working at the bank for a year now, and I guess I have had the most beautiful experience ever since I started working there.”

“I know right, are you single?” He shot at me and I turned my attention back to him, kind of surprised.

“Wait what? So it wasn’t about getting to know each other? You just wanted to know if I was single and then?”

“I am sorry but I have been admiring you for a long now, ever since you started working at the bank, I just want to know if I still got the chance, or if I should stop pursuing you, I was praying that I get this opportunity and thank God my prayers were answered.” He said and I smiled, I don’t know why he thought he stood a chance with me but I was just not the kind to fall for a man who was every girl’s choice, except for Reece of course, he was an exception to me.

“Wow, what should I say? I like this courage and this version of you, I am single yes but I don’t think I am ready to mingle, not with you though.” I said and he feigned being hurt.

“That actually hurt, why don’t you want to be with me or are you seeing someone already?”

“No I am not seeing anyone but why would I admit that I don’t even know you in the first place?” I asked as I took a bite of my sandwich but felt like throwing up, I ignored the feeling and munched on it but the feeling came back again, I quickly rushed to the washroom and threw up, I washed my face and rinsed my mouth but suddenly felt sick and weak, I opened the door and Josh as leaning against the door.

“Are you okay?” He asked and I just nodded in agreement, I didn’t even have the strength to talk, I was feeling weak all of a sudden, he took my hand in his and started leading me out but the urge came back again and I quickly rushed to the toilet, he was holding my hair the whole time and after I was done he helped me to the sink and I washed up and rinsed my mouth.

“I feel sick and weak already, my God I don’t know what is wrong with me though,” I started after I was done washing up.

“Don’t worry I will walk you back to your seat and I will talk to the doctor, we have one on board, he can come check up on you, come on.” He said as he offered me his hand, I just couldn’t walk, my knees were wobbling and very weak, “Don’t worry I will carry you to your seat.” He said and without saying another word, he carried me like a child and walked with me to my seat, I could feel the people’s eyes boring onto my back but that didn’t deter me, I just wanted to lay down and get some rest, as soon as he put me down and adjusted my seat, he covered me and went to call the doctor, I immediately fell asleep.
