CHAPTER 49: HUNTED BY THE PAST
“B—baby, ohh~” The woman let out a faint groans, when he move.
Disheveled hair on top lay in a mess. Her back is bare, she is not hiding anything almost. Sweat trickled down on her forehead. Her lips parted as she take each stroke of pleasure. Tilting her head to the side, leaning it to his shoulder.
Erika Montessano was in an utter bliss as Conrad Alexander Duke continue with his expertise hands and lips, travelling all the way from her chest.
“G—god, you’re so f*****g good, Conrad.” She shuddered, feeling how close she was to her peak.
“Mind if I say how sweet you are, Erika?” His baritone voice sent shivers to her spine.
Erika chuckled, “You always do, when you f**k me.”
Erika and Conrad are batch mates. They have the same fate. He was thrown out for being a bad blood, a cursed, and Erika was sent away because she means troubles. If there’s something common between the pair, that’s how they understand each other’s loneliness, but neither of the two are going to admit it.
On that place, wealth doesn’t matter. What kills them isn’t hunger, but loneliness, knowing that their family do not accept them. But her mother’s call the other day changed it. Although Conrad is no fool that she’s plotting something.
Whatever it is, he doesn’t care.
He still hated her… them.
“But hey, I heard that you were leaving.” Erika pulled apart, and stared closely at him. “Is that right?”
“Yeah, my mother wants to see me—”
“Oh c’mon, we both knew that she’s up to something, Alex.” She haven’t met Lauren, but Erika doesn’t already felt good hearing some news about the sophisticated lady. The renown Mrs. Duke, the pearl among the Business tycoons.
“I know and that’s what I wanted to find out, Erika.” Conrad placed both of his hands on each side of her head.
“You can’t be serious.” The look of disapproval flashed before her eyes.
“I am.”
They looked to each other for a moment.
“If you leave, are you coming back here again?”
“Depends.” Conrad shrugged his shoulder. “If my mother still hated the fact that I was born or if I make some troubles at home.”
“I think I like the second one.” When she pulled him close, Erika planted a soft kissed on his lips. “I’m going to miss you, Alex.”
“Me too….me too, Erika.”
“Oh my god! Where did she go?” Mrs. Duke felt like she’s going to have a headache soon.
Raquel was nowhere to be found, and in any minute, David would be home sooner.
“Let’s just go, Ma.” Grace was impatient. “Of she isn’t here, then just call her, can’t you do that?”
“I told you that she isn’t picking up my calls.” Mrs. Duke was losing her cool as well. “The hell’s wrong with your sister.”
“And here I was thinking that you have her on her throat.” Her words was mocking.
“Shut up, Grace.” Mrs. Duke glared at her.
That’s when they heard the gates being opened, and a car was parked on the garage. When the engine dies down, they knew exactly who it was.
“It’s David.” Grace announced. “What are we going to do?”
There is a bit of fear on her voice.
“It wasn’t as if we are stealing.” Mrs. Duke’s tone drips with sarcasm.
As they stood there, footsteps echoed on the hall until the doorknob was twisted, and they are not wrong.
It is David.
When he first laid his eyes on the pair, the glint changes into hatred. The smile faltered on his lips as he scowled.
“What are you two doing here?” Scornful, he asked.
But Mrs. Duke did not show any fear.
“I am here for my daughter.” She announced. “I am looking for Raquel.”
“Don’t make me laugh.” David coldly chuckled. “Looking for her again for what? Money? To beat her?”
“As if you’re no different from us, David.” Mrs. Duke eyed him with contempt. “You are a wolf, so don’t pretend as if you didn’t hurt her the same way we does—”
“It is because of you.” David clenched his jaw. “You drugged me that night!”
“Perhaps, yes, but not for Raquel.” Mrs. Duke waved her hand as if it doesn’t matter. “It was supposed to be Grace, but how stupid of you.” She sounded disappointed. “You slept with Raquel instead of. My poor daughter you beat everyday, I’m sorry.”
“You..!” He bawled his fist
“Is that what you wanted to hear, David?” She chuckled.
Grace could only watch in the corner as they confronted each other.
“You are a monster, Soleil.” David’s face was red with anger.
“I am, but you’re no better than us.” She spat. “Let’s go, Grace. We are just wasting our time here.”
“C—coming, Ma!” Grace gulps.
The tension building on the air made her wary, but before she leave the room, for unknown reason, Grace looks back, and mouthed a quick, “I’m sorry.”
“Hey, you haven’t told me yet where we are heading, Raq.” Eliot asked as he maneuvered the car.
“Just follow my lead.” Raquel heaved a deep sigh.
She didn’t know she is still keeping it in secret, when Eliot was already with her.
Or is it before she isn’t ready yet to fully open to the male after the confession? But that doesn’t mean she isn’t grateful that he is here. Eliot have helped her so much. He have always been there, although their first impression with each other is uncommon.
It began with a one night stand in Bali, but here they are risking everything, unquestioned of what future a heads wait for them…or more likely for her.
Her eyes averted towards the address that was given to her. It is the Evangeline Medical Hospital, her birthplace that could answer a lot of questions coming from Raquel.
“Hey.” Eliot grabbed her attention. “Are you alright? You’ve been spacing quite a lot during the ride.”
“I’m fine.” She lied.
“Stop lying, I know that’s something has been going on.” He was speaking of the truth.
Raquel looks away, “It just that…” She bit her lips. “I felt drain.” It’s true. The truth is draining. “Everything that has been going on… it is just, I’m tired, Eliot.” Finally, she have the courage to admit it.
That’s when she felt a hand on her lap, grabbing her own as he squeeze it reassuringly, “Everything’s will be alright, Raq.”
“I hope so, Eliot.”
Hoping, although she didn’t know what hope awaits for her in the future.
