Panic

Zeus let out a menacing growl. Katherine’s staff in her hands thrummed with power as she turned and looked to find two hunters approaching her. “And can I help the two of you?” Seeing the sexy young girl waiting for them, nasty smirks were shared between the men no older than twenty-five. “Yeah, baby you can help me and my cousin out all night long if you want.” Shaking her head, Katherine ordered, “Leave or I’ll have to hurt you. And I won’t warn you twice.” Zeus growled again, hair standing straight up like he’d been electrocuted. The hunters edged closer seeing her alone and figuring she was weak. One was blonde with a buzz cut sans the stupid rat tail he had down his neck. Small and thin, the blonde braid was covered in something like tar and as he flicked it, it seemed to stick to him like the same substance. Smiling as his hard grey eyes shined with sadistic amusement, the man eagerly taunted, “No need to say anything at all. I’d prefer to hear you scream.” Not at all scared by the demented man, Katherine used her staff to fill her with power as it flowed from the earth and into her making her stronger. "That was your only warning.” And neither saw it coming. Katherine moved fast and was then standing in between them. Staff swinging out, her hair flew as she beautifully turned hitting them both in the face with it. Body moving gracefully as they stumbled back, Katherine kicked one in the face before turning and punching the other. Both frustrated as they tried to land a hit, Katherine was too precise in her skill as years of training showed both the hunters the difference. Laying into them without mercy, the hunter hiding in the bushes tried to wait for the right moment. Older and going to deal the killing blow, he kept waiting and as he worried, she’d kill his prodigies, he decided to step in. Running at her quickly, she was in his line of sight and his tunnel vision cost him. Because as the older and much slower man tried to rush her, he was seen by Zeus. Snarling, the dog bit down on the man’s arm snapping it in half. Hollering as the pain startled him, the rattail hunter turned and called out, “Bishop!” Distracted, rat tail was knocked out and his cousin was soon soaring through the air. Rolling until he hit a tree, he lost breath and Katherine stopped the one he called Bishop from getting up. Huffing as he sweated, Zeus was close growling and if he moved Rolland Bishop knew the deranged mutt would rip his throat out. “And how did you vermin get on our grounds?” Refusing to answer, Katherine didn’t look away from the older man as the two younger ones tried to get their second wind. As rat tail righted his broken nose stopping the bleeding, his comrade she’d tossed stood trying to stop his stomach from flipping. But as he tried to not be sick, he saw the three or four of the pixie who held her staff under Bishop’s chin annoyed with his non answers, “I won’t ask twice.” He glared at her, “Why are you here?” A nasty smile, “I heard women like you liked a good time. We thought for a nice payment your services would have been available.” Mind dark with his disgusting thoughts, Katherine’s tolerance plummeted, “Well sir, to be frank? Even if my services were for sale? You wouldn’t even be able to pay for it, you limp d**k cunt.” Bishop started to sneer something nasty back when she suddenly turned and as her staff jutted out two sharp blades at both ends, it went from non-lethal to lethal in seconds. Bishop watched her stab Percy in the gut when he tried to sneak up on her. But he was tripped up and gushing when with a sharp turn, she slit Isaiah’s throat open. Body hitting the ground with a thud, his disgusting rat tail being coated in his own blood, Percy watched his cousin die in seconds. Holding his wounds, he tried to get up to get revenge as he hollered insults at Katherine. But as he bled even more, a SUV suddenly pulled up and Bishop swore the second he saw it. Triston Deucalion jumped out first followed by two hunters under his patrol and looked at Katherine before glancing down at the humans she had taken down. “Rolland Bishop, Percy Donavon, you’re wanted at the council.” He spared a glance at the corpse of Isaiah Terrance, “And we’ll take him back. But you know he won’t be in the cemetery. None of you will be.” Percy’s head jerked back as he looked at his cousin’s body knowing if he took it back, he’d be buried as a traitor. Body discarded; he wouldn’t go into the family soil in Sleepy Hallow. Instead, he’d be tossed into unknown dirt to sleep with strangers in his death. Unable to stomach it, but not knowing what they would do with it here, probably eat it or some weird s**t, Percy was about to have a breakdown when Isaiah’s body suddenly burst into flames. Turning away, his eyes found the pixie’s who dropped her hand as she looked away from him. Mercy. Or at least she’d granted him a semblance of it and not let him decide something so heavy like that. Wanting to thank her, but knowing better, Percy’s head was bowed when he was hauled into the car. Shackled and exhausted he didn’t look when he was asked, “Why?” He instead just felt the numbness settle… “Are you alright ma’am?” Triston’s younger brother Loki looked Katherine over, “Did they harm you?” Katherine shook her head watching the two with a measured gaze, "No. I'm fine." Zeus staring back at them as well with the same unfriendly demeaner made Triston assure, “Well we’ll get them out of here. You won’t have to deal with them again.” Unable to help it, Katherine snorted making Loki look at her surprised. “Sorry, it’s just, do you really think those amateurs and some overzealous old guy are our biggest concern?” Both were surprised as she reminded them, “There are now leagues of these assholes who proudly admit their so bored they want to start a war purely for the sake that us existing is still too much. That kind of hate isn’t just dangerous, it’s psychotic and deeply disturbing. They come by the truck loads to kill babies in their sleep and hurt old women.” Tristian had heard about that and quickly assured, “And the person who did such things was punished. But frankly rogue agents are not simply just a bunch of “psychotic” assholes as you call them. Some are still sane on some fronts as they are family, friends, sons, and neighbors like you all are. But they’ve been hurt, and they get caught up in pain.” Katherine’s nose flared as Loki saw the look clearly and read it for what it was. Annoyance. “Yeah, look I know it sucks when someone takes their s**t out on you when it wasn’t your fault. Best we can tell ya pretty lady is to get through it.” Katherine scoffed as she nodded, “Right, and the mean time you will keep trying to reason with or just “talk” with men like him?” Tristian didn’t respond and neither did Loki making her nod, “Right. Well, thanks for picking up your trash boys, you may go.” Dismissed just as her mate arrived, both saw the wolf and instantly flinched back at his aggression and reached for their weapons. But as Henry went to his mate and asked if she was hurt, he turned sharply to the men standing by their truck. Covered in more bruises after finding five humans trying to hurt a she-wolf, they were dead and he was sore. But he could kill two more if the ones looking at his mate wanted to go out by his claws. “We didn’t mean to startle you, lycan.” Tristian calmly said backing up, “We picked up the rogue hunters as ordered and now we’re taking our leave. No one of our patrol has done any harm.” Nodding, Henry dismissed him as he highly doubted that. Henry was sure some stupid human had done a s**t ton of harm and wanted to keep doing it. And as the jeep drove off, Henry realized he didn’t want to keep seeing the damage of their hate. “I need to go check on my parents.” Not wanting to let his mate out of his sight, Henry started to smother her and ask her to go too, but he knew Katherine could take care of herself. So, he nodded and as she looked at him suddenly, Henry almost cried as she hugged him. Trembling a little, Henry closed his eyes tight when she instructed, “Why don’t you take a bath and have a beer and I come back tonight?” Nodding immediately, Henry whispered, “Please.” And she didn’t say another word about it, “I’ll check on my parents, grab some stuff and be back in a little bit.” Nodding, Henry watched her go, and his anxiety felt like a dark hole. Rushing into the house with Zeus on his heels, Henry took a shot and then another before breathing out. It was when he felt he’d paced the entire house he was joined suddenly. “You okay Henry?” Looking at Nostradamus as he struggled to breathe, Henry’s pants made the warden worry as he told the wolf to breathe. Only he couldn’t…
