Instead, it was Katherine. A pixie who became a friend when seeing him drowning and offered a hand. A mutual shoulder to wallow on. She shared his spurn of his fatherly disappointment and was keeping him from making huge mistakes. Which is why he looked at Camille now, “It’s not your place to tell us we shouldn’t be concerned when it’s clear she’s still suffering from them still acting the same. Treating her the same. I don’t like it either to be frank and had I known? I’d have already gone, and that’s where I am going now.”
Shifting, Dorian’s large dark grey wolf shook out his fur and as his bolted forward, Henry liked the matched energy and as it’s platonic energy made his wolf easy with the loyalty, he turned to Alpha Elijah.
Having not told the beta after finding out about Katherine for this very reason, he was now probably chewing out her dad. Again.
Cursing rubbing his eyes, Henry about to follow made Camille speak up, “Katherine is going to be okay Henry. But giving her the option to leave-.” Henry interrupted, “Is better than making her feel like she has no choice but to forgive the people who’ve done nothing for her in two years. Sans judging and being completely absent because their feelings were hurt.”
Camille started to tell him the absent part might not be true when Henry hit her where it hurt. Unknowingly so, Henry seriously questioned, “And if these were your true parents? Would you seriously be defending them and promoting forgiveness?”
Silence stretching out uncomfortably, Camille’s expression answered Henry’s question as he nodded. “Exactly. I’m getting my mate and we’re leaving.”
He stormed off as Camille exhaled cursing under her breath followed by Elijah rubbing a hand over his face frustrated too. He couldn’t stop Henry because he was technically not his alpha, so as the wolf headed back to the pixie cottage ready to fight David for his mate, if need be, the warrior was stopped suddenly.
An aura of despair sinking in, it felt worse than the day he’d seen his village raided.
Eyes taking in Nostradamus, Henry shuddered as the feeling left, “Sorry, I needed you to calm down for a moment. Before you go running off with Katherine, maybe try to see if you can’t fix things first.” Scoffing, Henry grunted, “Considering her father was more concerned with chasing me off? I’m going to go out on a limb and say he doesn’t want me to get involved.”
And while both knew David would be s**t out of luck with pushing Henry out, both also knew Henry was thinking of taking Katherine far away. Which made Nostradamus point out, “She just got home, their fighting, he’s threatened if you get to her before he can you’ll take her far away and won’t see her again.”
Understanding that, Henry looked at the warden who sighed, “I don’t know why these rumors and small town gossip tore this family apart. It’s ridiculous.” Agreeing, Henry also said, “It doesn’t help that everything Katherine sent to the post office for them was never received.”
Surprised to hear that, Nostradamus sighed as he got a mission to help his friend, “Well then I’ll get to work in seeing what happened to everything. Until then-.” Until then nothing. Something having come to a head, both felt the power shake the earth and knew instantly who it was. Katherine.
Fear consuming them, Henry hauled ass to her side Nostradamus went and got Camille.
Something not wanted or needed for the pixie.
In fact, the pixie had trouble feeling anything as her depressive state only made her emotions feel murky and bleed together. Eyes blinking dazed, she saw nothing but the dark. And when she rolled over as shouts and pleas made her head hurt, the growled, “Silence.”
Made them all go quiet.
And that made her state even worse.
Lying in bed for two days, they seemed to blur together as she didn’t sleep. It was more like she’d stared at the back of her eyelids and yet wondered why she still felt tired.
Dark circles under her eyes and growing paler by the second, the first rainstorm of the year came with Katherine’s meltdown and did nothing to deter the Tomsen couple. Trying to get to their daughter, the vines didn’t do as much damage as they could have since they recognized they were her parents. Or her friends.
So, when Dorian came and stared in horror, he was already glaring at David who tried to explain it away, “We both know why this is happening, and it’s no one’s fault but yours. Help her, or I will.”
Left not to be able to as their daughter refused to let them in, Katherine sunk deeper into a place. To the point that even her magic no longer cared about the blood connection, the vines become increasingly stronger and more deadly.
Thorns becoming sharper and the vine swipes less forgiving, her parents stood in the rain drenched huffing with exhaustion as they called out to her. When they got nothing and they could no longer continue to handle the abuse the vines were doing to them, it was as she tried to sleep, assistance was called in by Dorian.
And it came draped in traditional robes that were made from the finest velvet. Dark burgundy as he walked calmly with his two underlings, the right and left parts of his brain in two different bodies looked as somber as he felt approaching the grounds.
It was as he came up to the little cottage, the powerful being held up a hand to stop David from charging at the cottage again. “Now David,” his silky voice interrupted with a smooth chiding placed there, “that seems like a waste of time and energy old friend.”
Seeing Elder Solar Tar standing in their yard, David bowed formally as Eloise came out of the house.
Looking just as tired and upset as her husband, the Elder shook his head sadly at the state of them. And their daughter whose pain he could feel as if it was his own.
“Why is your child protecting herself from everyone. Even you?” Having seen pixies and fairies in their teens do the same, the Elder was not shocked. But he was worried to see even the parents being shunned as the magic fueling the protective spell became more erratic and desperate.
The rain coming down again, it seemingly left not a drop on the descendant of The Great Pan. His crystal eyes swinging to the cottage he let a despairing sigh slip out before acting. Approaching, the Elder moved suddenly eerily, and was two steps to the left before a vine could pummel him.
Hitting the ground with enough force to shake the earth they stood on, he looked at it unfazed and then turned back to the beautiful cottage hidden under all the pain of its owner. “Now really my sweet, must we do this?” Words directed at Katherine inside the little home, the answer was a challenge as thorns became silver and more vines grew and began to fly like Medusa’s snakes intimidatingly.
Not even frightened though, Elder Solar sighed casually, “Well fine then.” And as he began to fly around much quicker than anyone would assume the man could for his ancient age, a fight began as Katherine’s magic spiraled out of control.
Emotions running rampant inside like a tsunami, she felt attacked as others still didn’t respect her wishes.
Wanting no one around her, Katherine screamed as she lost the shred of mercy she’d clung on to. Anger becoming its own monster, the vines became larger and grew extensions of themselves. Threading through the air and going after the bodies close to her home, she roared mercilessly.
She no longer saw them as kin or anyone she cared about, instead her mind was completely consumed with the faulty magic as their actions to her? Boiled over.
Which was why the empath appeared as the elder kept trying to force his way in.
Seeing the pain he unknowingly caused, Eva Sinclair stormed over as her brilliant honey brown eyes glowed. Angry as the high standing male kept trying to make Katherine open up to them, she snapped, “Hey!” Making them all jump as she put her hands on her hips, “What are you all doing to her!?”
