not a good day

Charlotte’s P.O.V. “For your information, Natalie, I hate grapes.” Mona laughed while mimicking my reply to Natalie in the class. If it weren’t for Mr. Hoffman’s call to both of them, we would have fought a little longer. I smiled weakly while admiring her to be his carefree. I was like her a few months ago. Why did I accept Adam’s proposal back then when I knew what kind of person he was? Was I so desperate for a boyfriend or his attention that I accepted his proposal without thinking once? “You did nothing wrong, girl. It… it’s just that you failed to understand the character of a dog,” Mona comforted me, holding my arm tightly. Tears spilled once again, making me lower my head. “I really liked him, Mona, and you know how he took care of me all these months,” I mumbled in a cracked voice. “Yeah, but I am glad that you didn’t let him to get intimate with you or else,” she replied while sighing in the end, pausing in mid-sentence. I shuddered hard in fear when I realized how lucky I was that I agreed with Mona’s condition of not letting him even kiss me before he proposed me in front of everyone. “Everything is okay, okay? You will get over him in a few days,” she still comforted me, and I closed my eyes. “Let’s go. I will drop you today,” she urged while dragging me towards her car. I was so stupid that I stopped bringing my car so that I could go back home with Adam. What a fool I am? I stiffened when I heard the roaring of the bike engine. It was Adam’s bike. I was determined not to even glance in that direction, but what you can do when your heart is as foolish as you are. The pain in my chest intensified ten-fold when I saw Natalie sitting where I was this morning, pressing her silicon bre*sts on his back, a provocative smile dancing on her lips. Mona gave my body a harsh jerk, making me stumble on my feet. She muttered something under her breathe but I was completely drowned in my own sorrow. She almost thrust inside her car and closed the door with a bang behind her. “I swear that I will kill this girl one day,” she cursed angrily while her driver started the engine. “Let them go, Mona. They are not worthy of your anger,” I said to her in a cracked tone. “And they are worthy of your tears, huh?” she asked accusingly, making me lower my eyes. “Forget it. This is something that you need to sort out on your own. I can’t help you in this matter,” she muttered angrily. You see, she is not like those best friends who are spoiled and like to be rotten. She is like those best friends, who criticize you at every step of yours, never give you their shoulder to lean on or to cry, push you hard when you are in low, but never let anyone hurt you. She is like those best friends who make you strong to face the world, not to find a hole to hide whenever problems see you. “What happened? What’s going on there?” I looked up when I heard her asking the driver something. “It seems that the two groups are having a clash,” the driver answered and I also stretched my neck to look in front of the car. “Fight? O my god!” Mona shrieked excitedly, and before I could stop her, she was out of the car. “Mona, stop.” I yelled in panic and got off the car. O I forgot to tell you guys that she is a big fan of WWE. What a day today...... All I wanted was to hide myself in the comfort of my sheet on the bed, and here I was, running behind my crazy friend. The problem was that she always involved herself in these types of fights. “Mona, stop.” I yelled angrily, groaning at the same time while running. The whole road was now packed jam. I don’t know why people choose roads from all the places to fight. After an exhausted day, everyone wants to go back in the comfort of their homes just like me. After push and pull a few times in the crowd, I succeeded in reaching the front right behind Mona. My eyes widened in horror when I saw a boy in our school uniform beating another boy, probably a hooligan, mercilessly. But that wasn’t the reason of my reaction. Another hooligan was about to attack him with a baseball bat from behind. “Behind you.” Both I and Mona screamed at the top of our lungs, and before I could register what I was doing, I ran towards the person behind that boy. The boy had a mask on his face, and that’s why I didn’t recognize him, but he had the jacket of our school on him. “Char.” I heard Mona screaming behind me. The next second, my hand was in my pocket, taking a mask out, putting it on my face, and picking up another baseball bat from the ground at the end. In a swift move, I threw the bat towards that hooligan and continued running towards him. The bat hit his face with a force that he screamed in pain, throwing the bat, and grabbing his face. I put my hand on the shoulder of the boy from my school who also looked at me at the same time. Our gazes met for a second before I used his shoulder as a cushion and lifted my lower body high up in the air, folding my left leg on knee, and stretching my right foot to kick the very same hooligan. Before that hooligan removed his hands from his face, my foot connected with his face, and he almost flew away while screaming like a banshee. It seemed that all my anger, heartache and frustration piled up to the extent that I wasn’t supposed to be here. I landed on the ground swiftly, releasing his shoulder from my grip, and marched towards that man who was now lying on the ground, writhing in pain. “You dare to attack from behind but didn’t have strength to get a kick from a girl, huh?” I taunted at him while ready to punch him. “Char, behind you.” I heard Mona screaming behind me again. I perked up my ear immediately, and tilted my head a little to dodge the attack of the person behind me. I backed kick his knee while grabbing the bat with which he was about to hit my head. I snatched the bat from him, and spun on my heel. I started hitting him with the bat, losing my rationality. “You all are nothing but a bunch of cowards, always attacking from behind.” I kept on yelling angrily while hitting him with the bat. Adrenaline rushed in my veins, making my attack more forceful. Two more tried to attack me, but that boy of our school intervened and we both started fighting in perfect synchronization. For an unknown reason, these hooligans appeared to me like Adam, a backstabber. Soon, a few people also joined the fight, making those hooligans run away after some time. I was now panting heavily, adrenaline still rushing to my mind while looking at the running backs of those hooligans. I snapped my head towards the person who tapped on my shoulder from behind. I felt as if someone had poured a bucket full of cold water on me when my angry gaze met with Mona's mocking gaze. My eyes widened in horror when I realized what I had just done. "Did it feel good?" she asked me while wrinkling her brows provocatively. Did it? Yes... I felt good while beating them, but I fought on the road... O M G!!!!!!! She grabbed my arm, and started running back towards the crowd. I didn't protest and ran behind her as if an army of ghosts is behind me. "What have I done, Mona?" I shrieked in fear while running. "I don't know what you were thinking, girl, but you are in deep trouble," she answered mockingly. I groaned and glanced behind me over my shoulder. My eyes met with his green and cold eyes. "Stop looking at him. God, Char. When will you realize that boys are nothing but trouble," she scolded me again, and I felt like crying. What have I done?
