Charlette’s P.O.V.
“What to do now, Mona? I … I know that I messed up, but.” I was now freaking out about the fight that I had on the street yesterday.
“Relax, girl. I told you that I have taken care of everything. A few people posted the video online, but I have deleted all of them too. Don’t you know my skills?” Mona tried to calm me down, but I was still anxious.
I couldn’t possibly let people know that I could fight.
We were about to enter the school building when we both screamed in fear, almost jumping on our feet when someone suddenly jumped in front of us.
“Gotcha.” He grinned and my anger flared.
“Who has set her dog free to scare others? Put a leash on him,” I yelled angrily, thrashing my hands in the process.
I suddenly froze when my hand connected to his cheek in fury.
His face snapped to the other side. I immediately pulled my hand back, and looked at him dumbfounded but didn’t feel any guilt of hitting him.
“Served him right.” Mona muttered lowly.
“You hit me?” Adam asked me in a shocked tone, his eyes widened in shock.
“So what I hit you? You jumped in front of us when we weren’t paying attention. Did you want to give us a heart-attack? What do you think we should do then? Give you an award for scaring us?” I retorted without showing any mercy to him, looking at him with pure hatred and disgust.
He blinked while looking at us in bewilderment.
“Hey, Natalie. Why didn’t put a leash on your dog, huh?” I yelled when I saw Natalie at the end of the corridor.
Adam, taken off guard by my yelling, immediately looked behind him.
“Who…. Who are you calling dog?” Adam yelled at me angrily, still had that baffled expression on his face.
“Whoever reacted.” I answered sassily, my gaze filled with disdain and hatred.
What an irony.
Just twenty-four hours ago, my heart was filled with love and passion for this boy, and now all I could think of his betrayal and how he and his little lover humiliated me.
“Come on, Char. We will be late for class,” Mona urged me, throwing a gaze filled with disgust on Adam before grabbing my arm.
“Uhhhhh…. What bad luck!” I exclaimed aloud, without masking my disgust for Adam.
“What is he? A child? Jumping in front of us like a monkey?” she commented in a loud voice while walking towards the lockers.
“Forget him, Mona. We have nothing to do with him,” I replied to him while glaring at Natalie coldly who had locked her eyes with me while storming towards Adam.
I scoffed internally when I noticed what she was intending to do once we cross the path as we were in the same corridor, coming from the other side.
“Did your mom say anything to you?” Mona asked me worriedly, completely oblivious to the surroundings.
“I hid myself in the room, making an excuse for the coming math competition,” I answered her truthfully.
My mother, Helena Carter is the CEO of her own company who dealt in IT. Keeping tabs on recent trends is one of the common works there.
I am sure that someone from her company would have seen the video of me fighting on the street. The only relief here was that I had a mask on my face, and I had changed my uniform before going out of school.
Actually, the student whom I took to the infirmary puked on me, and that’s why I had to change my clothes before I went back to the stadium.
They said that everything that happens is for good.
Last night, I believed it.
Still, I was scared that somehow my mother would recognize me. So, I avoided bumping on my parents this morning.
Mona was a hacker, and she deleted all the videos that she could find, but I was still scared.
Okay, back to the present scene.
While talking to Mona, I kept on glancing in Natalie’s direction.
“Hey, do you know?” I suddenly exclaimed and moved right in front of Mona, making her stopped in her tracks abruptly.
While spinning on my heels, I deliberately stuck my other leg outside.
“Aaahhh.” I smirked smugly and looked at the floor where Natalie was now lying, her face planted on the floor.
“Nat.” I heard Adam screaming behind me.
“Nat, what happened? You should watch your way, girl?” I asked her while feigning concern with a dramatic expression on my face.
Adam came and immediately pulled her up.
“Are you hurt? Let me see.” He asked worriedly while cupping her face.
Last night, I cried to my heart content and decided not to shed any more tear for him, and not to be sad for him.
Still, seeing him showing worry for someone else made me feel pain.
“Let’s go.” Mona muttered and grabbed my arm.
“Where do you think are you going, Charlette? Apologize to Natalie now,” Adam yelled at me when I moved to my original way.
“And why should I?” I yelled back while moving back towards them.
“Adam. Let it go.” Natalie whispered in a painful voice.
“No, she tripped you. She hurt you and she has to apologize to you,” Adam replied sternly, and I scoffed aloud.
“And who are you, by the way, to demand an apology from me?” I asked him arrogantly.
“Are you my brother, father or uncle?” I added in the same tone.
His eyes widened in shock and disbelief.
I can’t deny that his betrayal didn’t sting.
I hurt a lot.
Just a day ago, before the race, he cupped my face, and said so many sweet things to me.
Like, he can’t wait to have our first kiss in front of everyone, announcing our relationship to the world.
Like, he loves me so much that he can’t live a second without me.
Like, he wants a life-long relationship.
B*llshit…
“You hurt her.” He gritted his teeth while glaring at me angrily, but I could see a glint of hope in his gaze.
Hope that I will grovel or show any kind of hurt because of his action?
Ha….. he really don’t know me.
“O, you mean that you said so that’s why she should listen. Who gave you this courage?” Mona confronted him this time, hatred evident in her voice.
“I am her,” he yelled paused mid-sentence, making me furrow my brow, challenging him to finish his sentence.
I smirked coldly when I saw him hesitating.
“Let’s go, Adam. We have a class,” Natalie muttered, clearly disappointed by what he was going to say.
I scoffed in disdain, and walked away with Mona beside me.
“The audacity. Who does he think he is? Some kind of king or something like that that he demanded you to apologize? Moron,” Mona grumbled, still fuming in anger.
“He is not worthy of even your hatred, my love. Don’t let him ruin your mood. We have so many other pressing issues to take care of, and if you want to take revenge, we have plenty of ways to do that.” I comforted her, while pointing towards what we could do to him.
She smiled wickedly and we both giggled sinisterly.
I didn't confront him for what he did to me doesn't mean that I would leave hm just like that.
It's just, I am in no mood of dealing with him right now.
“Hey, Char.” I looked behind when someone called me. I was about to reach my class at the same time.
I saw Myra, my classmate, coming towards me running.
She had an excited look on her face.
Which means gossip.
Okay, something to lift our moods up.
“Do you know who I saw when I was parking my car?” she asked me excitedly as soon as she stopped beside me on the other side.
“Who?” Mona asked her immediately.
I also raised my brows in anticipation.
“Emanuel Jackson.” Myra breathed out; her eyes widened in excitement.
“Who?” I exclaimed in shock, poking my face out at the same time; eyes widened in shock.
