Brendan's POV
She is a red wolf.! Makes sense. She is like fire when she is triggered. There are still so many things I am still learning about her. And of them, are her anger issues.
After Adi and Yasmyn went to meet the Rogue King, I sat with Selena. For some reason, she looked like she was walking on egg shells. Like she was expecting something to happen and that something will happen if she even remotely moves wrong.
Not to mention she would bark at me if I even took my breath the wrong way.
Adi is standing beside me, as he watched his sister shift for the first time. He looked at her in awe. Of course. It's a red wolf we are talking about. There are only a handful of those ones in the werewolf race now.
"She is so stiff," Chase whispered in the back of my head.
Chase is my wolf and he acts like he knows the very origin of the werewolf race. It's mostly bluff but still entertaining though.
"Tell that to me when I am in control," he said and locked himself in the back of my mind again.
I looked at Yasmyn but sure indeed, she looked stiff. That could kind of mean that her wolf is talking to her. I took one step towards her, in hopes that I could talk to her.
But she beat me to it when she moved. Her eyes were searching through the crowd. And before I could process what she was about to do, she started running.
"s**t!!" Adi muttered under his breath.
The entire pack is now pure chaos. People are running for their lives with a newly shifted werewolf on the loose. Not only is the werewolf newly shifted but it's the Royal red wolf. That speaks volumes.
I watched as Yasmyn's wolf moved through the crowd as if she was searching for something. She can catch the scent but apparently it's not here. It's faint and she hasn't realised it yet.
Wolf side have this amazing sense of smell, vision and speed. You can be cooking something two hundred yards away but the wolf side will still know what you are cooking.
"You need to stop her, Brendan" Chase said.
The more I see Yasmyn, the more I think so too. And the moment her head moved and tilted to the side where the guest house was, I understood what was happening.
She was smelling Rogues. And the newly shifted ones are not that fond of Rogues. They are wired to hate the ones of the opposite kind. And to us, it's the Rogues.
"What a great time to bring the Rogues here, Adi!" I almost yelled at him.
Yasmyn ran towards the guest house and everyone here knew that whoever she was running for, is going to end up dead. But as long as I am here, I am not going to let anything come in Yasmyn's way.
If she kills the Rogue King now, there will be repercussions. The ones even Adi cannot pull her out.
I started running behind her and shifted into my huge black wolf mid sprint. I could hear the gasps of the people and I wish I could put on a show right now.
My wolf is called Chase for a reason. Even though I am a newly shifted werewolf too, Chase is a bit different. Like I said, he talks like he knows everything about werewolf origins.
It took Chase only a few seconds before he stopped in front of the red wolf.
Yasmyn's wolf growled low as she looked at Chase. And Chase did the same.
It's different seeing the world through the wolf's eyes but every single time, it's more fascinating.
Both the wolves growled low and they started moving in circles. Yasmyn's wolf is still yet to understand the situation we are in and what I am to her.
I think it's a great thing that Yasmyn did not reject me back. She didn't even accept my rejection. Whatever the part of the rejection happened, it was only from my side.
I rejected the future Queen and I made a grave mistake.
I wanted to tell her that I did what I did, because of my own reasons. I wish I could talk to her without judgement. I know it's rich coming from me about judgements but I just want it at the moment.
Yasmyn's red wolf then came to a halt, her eyes turning wide as the realisation slowly dawned in. Chase moved closer to her, but with a growl still on his face. He is not ready to take any risk and so am I.
"It's okay," I wanted to tell her and that's what I told Chase.
Chase did something that I guess is the wolf language. I watched as the Red Wolf slowly came to a halt. Her eyes are now staring at my wolf.
And the next second, both the wolves embraced each other. I saw Chase playfully tickle Yasmyn's wolf with his snout. The small sounds that Yasmyn's wolf made were too adorable.
That made me question my own judgements. Why was I not this way when I found my mate? Why did I have to judge her because of her clothing?
I know I had my reasons but I feel like things went too far. I took them too far even though I had my own reasons
Both the wolves played with each other for a while, before Yasmyn's wolf got up and fell on top of Chase. I swear to Moon Goddess, if they are about to have s*x in front of an audience then I am going to -
Something unexpected happened before I could even finish the sentence. Something that made me speechless. Something that made everyone around us gasp with their eyes wide.
Adi finally caught up to us and he held his head with both his hands. My lungs and heart are rushing and things happened in my body just because of one move.
The move even I did not see coming.
Yasmyn's wolf marked mine as hers.
