My mate

Betty The cool breeze brushed against my skin while the rich scent of earth filled the air around me. It felt amazing. In my dream, I was flying through the clouds with the biggest plate of food I had ever seen waiting for me. There was meat, bread, stew… and the most beautiful sausage I had ever laid eyes on. I was just about to take a bite when something jabbed painfully into my back. Rude. Marie instantly growled inside me, equally offended by the interruption. Whatever disturbed our meal was about to die. Then a voice snapped through the air. “Wake up, idiot.” My eyes flew open. Right. I was in danger. I pushed myself off the ground quickly, only to come face-to-face with a terrifying-looking man holding a stick. Another stood behind him, staring at me like he was deciding whether to kill me or not. Well… this was unfortunate. “Hi,” I said awkwardly, forcing out a nervous smile. --- Aaron What an absolute nuisance. I studied the girl carefully while trying to understand what exactly was wrong with her. A bag lay nearby, so she had obviously been trying to escape before collapsing in the middle of the forest like a corpse. I narrowed my eyes at her. Then, before anyone could say another word, her body swayed— —and she fell asleep again. Loudly. Snoring. “What the hell?” I muttered. I grabbed the stick and poked her again, but she did not react at all. Davis looked just as stunned as I felt. “You know what? Forget it,” I sighed. “Just carry her. We’re leaving.” Davis threw her over his shoulder, and somehow the i***t kept sleeping peacefully like none of this concerned her. Honestly, I was impressed. --- Jackson My warriors moved silently through the darkness, surrounding the Winds Pack before they even realized what was happening. Then I spotted Douglas. Rage exploded inside me instantly. He looked so young. Barely twenty-two. Yet he had destroyed the life of a sixteen-year-old girl without remorse. Disgusting. I connected to Aaron through the mind link. We’re in position, he informed me. Also… we found some strange sleeping girl. That was the least of my concerns right now. Attack, I ordered coldly. Chaos erupted immediately. The Winds Pack warriors barely had time to react before my men descended on them. I lunged forward, partially shifting as I ripped straight through one warrior’s chest and tore out his heart. Screams echoed through the forest. Blood covered the ground. But my attention remained fixed on one person. Douglas. The moment he saw me, panic filled his face and he tried to run, but Aaron intercepted him before he could take two steps, slamming him down by the throat. A furious growl tore from my chest. Suddenly, another scent reached me. I turned to find Alpha Sebastian kneeling before me with his beta beside him. “The boy is a fool,” Sebastian said desperately. “Punish him however you wish, but please… alpha to alpha… do not destroy my entire pack because of one mistake.” Mistake? My eyes darkened with fury. Raping a child was not a mistake. It was evil. I was seconds away from snapping Douglas’s neck myself when a sleepy voice suddenly interrupted the tension. “Can’t a girl sleep in peace?” Every head turned. Davis carefully lowered the strange girl from his shoulder while she rubbed her eyes lazily like she had not just woken up in the middle of a battlefield. Then she looked at me. The second our eyes met, the world froze. Bright green eyes stared directly into mine, and my wolf, Dimitri, growled violently inside me. Mine. My breath caught. Mate. I barely even heard the conversation around me anymore. But then something strange happened. Instead of reacting to me, her attention shifted toward the man standing beside Alpha Sebastian. She smiled at him while he looked back at her with complete disappointment. I cleared my throat and forced myself to focus. “I will take your son,” I said coldly to Sebastian. “And I will decide his punishment myself. But hear me clearly, Alpha Sebastian. If something like this ever happens again, I will wipe your pack from existence.” Before anyone could respond, my mate collapsed face-first onto the ground. And started snoring. Silence filled the forest. Aaron blinked. “That’s the second time she’s done that.” The beta immediately stepped forward and bowed his head. “My apologies, Alpha Jackson,” he said stiffly. “My daughter did not mean to disrespect you. Please forgive her.” I stared at the sleeping girl on the floor. So she was his daughter. Interesting. Dimitri growled again. Take her. I looked back at the beta. “She belongs to you?” “Yes, Alpha.” “I’m taking her with me.” His eyes widened instantly with panic. “May I ask why?” Fear flashed across his face as he spoke. I kept my gaze on the sleeping girl before answering calmly. “Because she is my mate.” The entire forest fell silent. Aaron stepped beside me so quickly you would think he misheard me. “What?”
