Ava’s POV The pack house felt different at night. The halls were dark, lit only by a few torches flickering against the stone walls. Most of the warriors were on patrol, their footsteps were echoing faintly outside. Inside, everything was quiet but the silence didn't feel peaceful. It was heavy and watchful, as if even the walls were waiting for another attack. I slipped through the hall, my heart was pounding. Every step I took felt louder than the last. Part of me expected Kane to step out of the shadows, to catch me and ask me what I was doing. If he did, I wasn’t sure if I would have the strength to lie.
