“Are you comfortable here? Do you still need something? Can I get you something?”
I bit my lip as I gave Farkas a timid smile. “I-I’m fine here…thank you so much,” I said, my voice almost fading. I didn’t even know if he heard what I said or something.
“Alright, I’ll leave you then. Make yourself comfortable. I’ll have someone call you for dinner later.” He smiled at me.
“T-thank you…” I said again. He didn’t reply, but the smile never left his lips until he finally got out of the four-cornered room.
The moment the door closed, I immediately held my breath. I let out a sigh of relief as my eyes roamed everywhere. That was when realization dawned on me. Heck… I was really in Shadowstone…and this place that I was in was inside the ruthless alpha’s mansion! Just when Riverstone treated me like a useless thing, here in Shadowstone, I felt like I was an important person. Here, I felt like I was untouchable because Farkas got my back.
Heck, all the fears and hesitations that I had for him earlier just faded. Somehow, I feel light now. And heck, just seeing how vast and comfortable this room right now overwhelms me! It's even bigger than my previous house in Riverstone!
I let out a sigh before I let myself lie down on the bed. I spread my arms and felt the smooth sheets of the bed. Damn. I could even fit 3-4 people in this bed.
'Tsk. You're easy to believe his lies? Have you forgotten that you are talking to the most ruthless alpha in the realm?!'
I couldn't help but roll my eyes at that. I could feel my wolf's desperation and anger. I closed my eyes and tried to communicate with her.
"Why? Would you rather that we stayed outside and be a bait to the rouges?” I hissed. I heard her growling. I shook my head and took a deep breath.
I bit my lip and tried to roam my eyes around the room. It was designed classically like those of the royalties that I often hear in the town center. Across our realm lives the realm of other creatures. There they have royalties and they are led by one powerful group as a whole, unlike us who have our own leaders per pack.
Well, for me, I have none now.
All I could see was a wooden marble design all over the room. There were two big windows with large curtains that matched the cloth above the arc of my bed frame. I felt like I was a princess.
Is this their guest room? If it is, then wow. This is too much for a guest room. What more about the master's bedroom?
'Why the hell are you thinking about a master's bedroom?! Are you nuts?'
I couldn't help but groan again. Seriously? This wolf of mine is already trying my patience here! Tsk. I gritted my teeth, but I didn’t let my emotions take over. I took a deep breath and shushed her away. I stayed in that position for a little while before I decided to sit on the bed. I grabbed my backpack and pulled out my things from there.
I pressed my lips together as I looked at the things that I was able to bring. I sighed as I held that one picture frame of my parents. This is my last memory of them. We didn’t even have a photo together. I heaved in a deep breath again. I miss them…I miss them every day.
I bit my lip to forbid my tears from falling down. I swallowed the lump in my throat as I tried to calm myself. I took the frame to my chest and hugged it tightly. I was in that position for many minutes before I heard a knock from the door. That’s when I immediately shoved all my things to the side. I swallowed hard and went out of bed. My heart was beating so fast as I went to the door.
“Y-Yes?” I asked nervously, but the moment I saw Farkas’s face in front of the door, it felt like
That nervousness that I felt immediately faded. It was replaced by a feeling of relief.
“Hey, you okay?” he said, smiling at me.
I bit my lip. There was something about his smile that made me want to smile, too, even if my b***h of a wolf was growling at me already.
“Yeah. I’m fine…” I said as I looked away from his gaze because I felt the abnormality in my heart whenever we looked into each other’s eyes.
“I’m sorry to disturb you, though, but I just want to inform you that dinner is served. Would you like to join me in the dining area?” My eyes widened as I looked at him in disbelief. I even swallowed hard as my eyes grew wider while I was looking at him.
“M-me? Joining you?” I asked him, and still couldn’t believe that he was actually asking me to join him! I mean, who am I to be given the chance to eat with Shadowstone’s alpha?
“Yeah, of course. Shall we? I’m sure you’re famished.” He gave me a smile again. I wasn’t able to answer him because he immediately grabbed my hand and took me with him. I was left dumbfounded as we walked to the dining area.
The moment we got out of the room that he let me stay in, I saw his vast living room again. I was in awe again as I looked around. His living room was bigger than my house in Riverstone and the chandeliers hanging from his high ceilings gave a more royal vibe to the place. I don’t know if he just liked classic vampire designs or what, but that’s what I really felt about the ambiance.
I was even more amazed the moment we reached the dining area, in which a lot of maids in their uniform were waiting for us and I was greeted by a long table with a lot of food on it, as if we were going to have a feast. And that’s not just that, because there were also candles on the table. My mouth parted a bit. Silently, I looked at the maids around us and they were all looking down, as if bowing to us.
Heck, who am I kidding? Of course, they are just bowing to Farkas because he is their alpha! What else, right? Ugh, what the hell is happening to you, Louve?!
“Have a seat, please.” I was pulled back into reality when I heard Farkas say that. I blinked multiple times and had no choice but to sit on the chair that he aided me with. I swallowed hard again and heaved a deep sigh. He was at the end of the table and I was seated on his left side. He looked at me, still wearing those smiles.
I suddenly felt shy and I felt my whole face heating up because of that. “Let’s eat, Louve. Please, do not be shy. Have as much as you want,” he even said, as if he had just read my mind. I gulped again. I tried to give him a smile, too, but I failed because I was overpowered by shyness and by the fact that I was so red already. Damn it.
“Thank you…” was all I managed to say. I still couldn’t look at him straight in the eyes, so I just focused my attention on the empty plate in front of me.
“You’re welcome, Louve,” I heard him say. It was followed by a snap of a finger and just like that, I saw the maids heading towards us. At first, I didn’t know what they were about to do, but then when they served me the foods that were actually far from me, I sat there in awe.
Wow. I have never felt so much respect. And I never even experienced being served like a freaking princess. Shadowstone… this pack is full of surprises!
“Thank you,” I said to the maid who handed me a drink. I even gave her a smile, but she didn’t return the gesture. She just looked down and slowly went away from me. I pursed my lips.
I was quietly watching their every move and I felt like they were all watching me- no, examining me- as if I was some foreign object that they needed to conduct an experiment on. Well, could I blame them? Huh, not really. This pack has trust issues…but I wondered why Farkas was so open and kind to me.
I didn’t want to overthink it all, but he’s really weird… and surprisingly, this little demon inside my chest was getting weirder whenever I was near him.
“You should try this. Our head chef specializes in this one.” I blinked multiple times as I looked at Farkas who was already getting me a piece of meat. I saw how the maids were in awe as they watched their alpha actually serving me.
Hell, I was even in shock!
“T-thank you…you really don’t have to do that…alpha…” I said, my voice almost fading because I was so damn shy.
He stopped for a bit and then he looked at me with amazement on his face. “Alpha? I told you to call me by my name,” he said lightly. I pressed my lips together and I didn’t know if he heard, but I was sure that I heard the maids gasping.
I couldn’t help but look at them. However, they were just looking down, as if they heard nothing. I cleared my throat and sat down properly. I took a deep breath before smiling at Farkas.
“Again, thank you. Thank you so much for letting me stay for the night and for feeding me. I don’t know how I can-”
“Enjoy your stay…that’s how you can repay me. Enjoy your stay, and think about staying longer…I’d appreciate that very much, Louve.”
