I still couldn’t believe it. Am I dreaming or what?
‘You’re not dreaming! You’re in a nightmare, b***h!’
I rolled my eyes when I heard my wolf lashing at me again. I closed my eyes tightly to make her disappear. I seriously do not need any more distractions right now. I need to be aware and attentive to my surroundings or else, I might just drop dead! Damn it! By the looks of the pack members that were staring at me, they were ready to kill! They were just waiting for Farkas’ signal and they would definitely s***h me with their claws already. f**k…
“I’m willing to take you in until you are able to decide, Louve,” Farkas’ soft voice whispered into my ear.
I almost flinched when I noticed that he was already beside me and his one hand was on my waist already. I swallowed hard. I wanted to get away from him, but I was just scared that they might cut my head off the moment I moved away. s**t.
“Alpha, are you sure about that? We are not—”
“Louve, what’s your answer?” Farkas cut the girl off.
I swallowed hard again, but then no matter how hard I tried, I just felt a lump continuously forming in my throat.
“I-I …” I couldn’t even continue what I was saying because as I looked at his members, disgust and dislike were all I saw on their faces.
I have always heard that the Shadowstone has always had this exclusivity within the pack. They never let outsiders get in. That’s also how they manage to dominate their pack. So now, I really don’t know why Farkas wants me in! It’s obvious that his people don’t want me!
“Alpha, we vowed to take no outsiders,” another pack member said.
“And I can overrule that if I want to.” Farkas then turned to me and smiled. I blinked multiple times at his sudden change of mood. I mean, the way he talked to the woman was far different from the way he talked to me.
I couldn’t help but swallow hard as I felt the woman’s glare at me. s**t. I think I just pissed her off more! But I don’t want to piss her alpha! “Louve.” I almost flinched hearing Farkas’ husky voice.
It felt like all the hairs on my body just stood because of his voice. I took another deep breath as I tried to phrase my answer to him. I bit my lip.
“Uhh I can’t…”
“It’s fine. But you need somewhere to stay for the night, right? I can provide you with one.” He smiled again. It wasn’t creepy nor suspicious. It was just a smile…a warm and genuine one.
What the hell am I thinking?!
‘You’re crazy!’
I shut my eyes tight as I fought my wolf inside. Damn it. I cleared my throat and tried to look at him even though it was really hard for me to even turn to him.
"I-I don't know…" I bit my lip hard and looked down. I could hear my wolf cursing at me already.
"You don't need to decide about staying and being a member of my pack, Louve. But I do hope that you'll accept my offer to stay the night, at least…" he immediately says, still smiling at me warmly.
I couldn't answer immediately. My mind was haywire and my wolf was not helping! She was ranting and that just made me confused even more damn it. I closed my eyes for a bit before I looked back at the road where we had just got out. It was starting to get dark already and hell, the road that was horribly scary earlier became even scarier now.
And I am not going to fool myself about not minding walking in that dark alley in a territory that I am not familiar with. That’s clearly suicide.
‘So what now?!’
Ughh! Damn it. s**t!
“Louve?” Farkas said again. I swallowed hard and shut my eyes for a while before looking back at him with my lips pressed together. Farkas’ eyes were still warm and soothing as he looked at me. It was the most comforting scene that moment, despite all the raging and fierce stares that his members were giving me. His presence kept my fear away, which was actually ironic because I was supposed to be scared of him! Now, why am I not?
“C-Can I stay just for tonight?” I finally said, not minding how my wolf was cursing me to death already.
What could I do?! I’m not a hypocrite to say that I can do this on my own when in fact I really can’t! Who knows what will happen to me out there?!
“That’s good, then. Let’s go?” Farkas said, not minding the reaction and how his members were giving us those intense stares. I just looked away and let Farkas guide me all the way inside their pack.
I was almost out of breath as I was heading inside. Never in my entire life did I imagine being here in this pack! And I had never even thought that when I went out of Riverstone, I would find myself in Shadowstone.
‘Now, we’re going to be dead!’
I took a deep breath as irritation ran through my body. This b***h of a wolf is not even helping, damn it!
“I’ll be escorting you to the quarters where you will be staying for the night,” Farkas said to me while we were walking.
The vast empty grounds greeted us the moment we entered the arc. It was like an arena in the middle, while a lot of houses were surrounding it. It was like a mini village, but a modern one. I couldn’t help but be in awe as I secretly observed the surroundings. Wow. This is Shadowstone, huh. For a moment, the nervousness and the anxiousness that I felt at that moment disappeared.
My mouth parted a bit as I looked at everything around me.I swallowed hard. There were people working on the sidelines and since I was with the alpha, they were all bowing the moment they saw him. Aside from that, I also saw their questioning looks the moment they darted their eyes on me. I cleared my throat and eventually looked down. Heck, I even went closer to Farkas. He must have felt that I was uncomfortable because he immediately draped his arms around my waist. I flinched. We stopped and that’s when he looked at me.
“Welcome to Shadowstone, Louve,” he said. Slowly, I looked up at him and roamed my eyes around. I stopped as my mouth parted in awe. In front of us was a castle-like structure.
“T-that’s your house?” I asked, still in a daze. I heard him chuckle.
“It will be yours if you choose to stay.”
My forehead immediately creased. I looked back at him. A lopsided grin appeared on his lips.
“What?” I asked, confused, but he just grinned even more.
“Let’s get you settled.”
