10. Kicked out

Daniel’s Pov We were grabbed, carried, and thrown out behind the club, right next to the garbage containers. I got up and helped Caleb stand on his feet. His eyes were still glazed. What was he high on? “Where are we? What did you do?” he asked me. “What the hell did I do? When I got into the room, you have been bitten by some crazy woman and bleeding. I thought you were a goner.” He sighed. “Dude, we talked about this. This is the experience. Am I dreaming, or did you attack the vampire female that was giving me the pleasure?” “Of course I did. I was trying to save your life.” He rolled his eyes. “I wish you just minded your own business. I am kind of foggy about the details. Did that lady say we were banned for life? Did this actually happen?” I nodded. “F** man! I was having a great time, the experience, and now she says we are banned. You got us banned. You really messed up this time.” “This time? What did I do last time?” “Well, clearly, you did something last time, since you can’t remember anything.” “Why didn’t you mention that? Did you know that?” “I heard rumors. I don’t know. I was hoping to cheer you up and have a good time, to have a buddy I can take to the parties with me,” Caleb’s eyes were still pretty foggy. Finally, he got up with my help, and we slowly walked out of the alley behind the bar while he leaned on me. I pulled out my phone, but the glass on it was shattered. I ordered an Uber and my finger got a cut on the crack. The blood was dripping on my clothes, but I could care less about that now. I was pumped with adrenaline, but felt useless. I should have left Caleb alone and done nothing, but how could I leave him? I thought he was going to die. And my neck was hurting. I was trying to keep still, which is not very convenient while walking. At least I was in one piece. Nothing was broken, as far as I could tell. But that guy, that vampire, was strong. I could not do anything against him. He didn’t look much bigger than me, but the strength he possessed was incredible. He was holding me, not even twitching, until the girl came and rescued me. The girl... I could not see her again. I couldn’t go back there. That started sinking in, and I was so miserable by the time I got to my apartment. Also, I screwed up with my friend, no matter how crazy that looked, and I ruined the chance of finding this girl. *** Aurora’s Pov Silvia took me into her office. This was actually the first time for me to step into it since the bar had just opened. The office had gray walls except for the wall behind her desk, which was black but with a red undertone. There were no windows in her room. One wall had two paintings. One of them was a man in a dark yellow suit and the other a woman in a ballroom gown made from rich silk in blue and white, probably from the 1800th. The gold frames looked what humans call antique, as well as Silvia’s desk and the rest of the furniture. I was pretty sure I had seen these in her penthouse before. I wondered who these vampires were to her. She also had a large TV screen framed like it was a mirror. She shut the door and quickly shimmered into her chair. I sat in the guest chair on the side of her desk, closer to the exit. “Maybe you should not get too comfortable,” she suggested. Yep, I was in deep trouble with her. “Why did you let your pet act that way? You could have stopped him at any time. What is going on with you? Every time you see Elon, you act so irrationally. It sets a bad example. Everyone heard him screaming at the party, and now everyone will know what you did at MY event. I can’t let you back for a long while. You better straighten up your act, and you better do it fast!” I never really wanted to come to her events, but it was not the time to tell her. However, when I got Elon to scream, that was so enjoyable. I wish I could have recorded and I would play it over and over and over again. Now I have to use my memories and treasure at that moment. But I also knew I screwed up. People will be talking. Can vampires attack each other? Yes, that happens. Not as much in the modern world, well, unless you are visiting the underground Vampire ring, I suppose. We are now all civilized, always looking forward to entertainment rather than violence. At least most of the time. There are higher standards at the important houses, especially at Silvia’s party. “Please leave through the back door,” she advised me. “You have to reconsider your behavior. I have been to your place it is not pretty. You should get a job. I would hire you but not after this incident.” “Why would I need to get a job? How is it anything to do with Elon or my actions?” “Hmm, you really don’t get it,” she gave me a weary glance. “Maybe you should travel then. Stop sitting alone in your dirty place. Move on, get over him, get a lover, get a nice compliant pet, something to take your mind off him. I am telling you, this incident might be minor, but I am seeing a pattern here. Don’t go down like this.” “I know you are trying to help, but I don’t think you understand what is going on,” I replied to her. “Do you?” I shook my head. I didn’t know what was going on. “Think about it,” she told me while I was already rushing out of her office. George kindly showed me where the exit to the alley behind the bar was. Well, he was rather watching me, making sure I left as instructed. I had known him for so long. It was strange to have him kicking me out. “Don’t come back, Aurora. I can’t let you back. You know that.” “It’s fine. I understand.” I didn’t want to go back. Maybe it’s for the best. Let them leave me alone in my own misery. Finally, I will not hear from anyone for a while. He locked the heavy door behind me. I was walking through the alley. Blood stains were all over the ground. The odor was not great with the garbage nearby. I sped up to get home. It was late, and I could go faster if I had been careful enough. But just as I was about to take another step, I felt the familiar smell hitting my nostrils. I could see it instantly. There were just a few drops on the ground. The smell of them was intoxicating, and I knew it and remembered it well. I bent down on the dirty, wet ground. Blood was mixed with the rainwater and mud. I still dipped my finger in it and placed it in my mouth. It belonged to my human.
