Lara had a birthday coming up, and I was wanting to ensure that this year, she had a great birthday. This year’s birthday was the one that girls found special. The sweet sixteen. I wanted to throw a party for her. I knew I needed to talk to James about this. I mean, she was his daughter. So, naturally it would be his choice if Lara had a birthday party or not.
Ever since we had met with the new family in his office, James had been a little on edge. I knew it was because of the vampire. I knew he was worried that the kid might snap and chow down on the entire pack. But personally, I couldn’t see that happening. The kid seemed genuine. His parents seemed genuine. To me, they appeared to be a good family who were just looking for a place to call home.
