Later that evening Heidi and I accompanied my father to his office in the main pack house. He didn’t speak to either of us in the SUV on the way to the packhouse. And once we arrived at the pack house, we were met at the front door by Beta Scott. Heidi and I followed my father and Beta Scott silently into my father’s office. As soon as we were in the office, my father pointed to two seats against the far wall of the office and said, “You two. Sit there.”
